As a part of the Economic Recovery Act stimulus package recently signed into law by President Obama most first time home buyers who purchase a home before December 1st, 2009 will be eligible to receive an $8,000 tax credit. This is a tax credit not just a tax deduction, so you’ll actually get $8,000 from the IRS when you file your taxes.
