$8,000 Tax Credit for First Time Home Buyers

Buy a house, get $8,000. Not bad!

As a part of the Economic Recovery Act stimulus package recently signed into law by President Obama most first time home buyers who purchase a home before December 1st, 2009 will be eligible to receive an $8,000 tax credit. This is a tax credit not just a tax deduction, so you’ll actually get $8,000 from the IRS when you file your taxes. Unlike the $7,500 tax credit that was passed in 2008 that had to be repaid, there is no repayment required for the new credit. Unfortunately home owners who bought in 2008 and were eligible for the previous credit will only be able to get $7,500 and the repayment part still does apply. Dunbar Lakes Subdivision in Schaumburg Goes Green

Dunbar Lakes in Schaumburg has joined the green revolution. The complex recently installed energy saving Compact Fluorescent Lighting throughout the 424 unit complex. October 20th, 2008

Inventories for Schaumburg townhomes and condos were up in September to 14.2 months supply compared to 9.8 months supply during the same period last year. The average market time for units currently under contract was 138 days compared to an average market time of 117 days for all units sold within the last six months. The average list price to sale price ratio for all townhomes and condos sold in Schaumburg within the last 6 months was 95.8%. [More...]

Inventories for Schaumburg single family homes grew in September to 12.8 months supply, up from 10 months supply in August but down from 18.7 months supply during the same period last year. The average market time for homes currently under contract was 217 days while the average market time for all Schaumburg homes sold in the last 6 months was 155 days.
